Welcome to Declutr: Storage Cleaner ("Declutr", "the App", "we", "our", or "us"). 

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. 

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Declutr 

mobile application on Android devices.


BY INSTALLING, ACCESSING, OR USING DECLUTR: STORAGE CLEANER, YOU AGREE TO THE 

PRACTICES DESCRIBED IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS POLICY, 

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE APPLICATION.

2. CORE PRIVACY PRINCIPLE: 100% ON-DEVICE PROCESSING

Declutr is engineered from the ground up with a "Local First, Privacy First" 

architecture. 


- ALL FILE SCANNING, DUPLICATE HASHING, SIMILAR PHOTO COMPARISON, CONTACT MERGING, 

  AND CALENDAR CLEANING ARE PERFORMED ENTIRELY LOCALLY ON YOUR DEVICE.

- WE DO NOT OPERATE CLOUD SERVERS THAT RECEIVE, STORE, OR PROCESS YOUR PERSONAL 

  FILES, PHOTOS, VIDEOS, DOCUMENTS, CONTACTS, OR CALENDAR EVENTS.

- YOUR SENSITIVE FILES NEVER LEAVE YOUR DEVICE THROUGH OUR APPLICATION.

3. INFORMATION WE PROCESS ON-DEVICE (NOT COLLECTED OR TRANSMITTED)

3.1 STORAGE FILES & MEDIA

When you grant the necessary storage permissions, Declutr accesses files in your 

internal and external storage (such as SD cards) to provide core cleaning features:

- Photo & Video files: To compute visual similarity hashes, detect exact duplicates, 

  identify blurred images or old screenshots, and perform local photo compression.

- System & Cache files: To detect temporary cache files, thumbnail cache, empty 

  directories, APK installer files, and log files.

- Arbitrary Files & Documents: To detect duplicate files by comparing content 

  checksums (e.g., MD5/SHA-256) and display storage usage breakdown.

All scanning, hashing, moving to Trash, and restoration operations occur strictly 

within your local device storage.


3.2 CONTACTS

When you open and use the Contacts Cleaner feature, Declutr accesses your local 

device contacts to:

- Identify duplicate contacts sharing the same name, phone number, or email.

- Identify incomplete contact cards (e.g., missing numbers).

- Merge or remove duplicate contacts upon your explicit confirmation.

No contact names, telephone numbers, emails, or notes are ever transferred or 

transmitted off your device.


3.3 CALENDAR EVENTS

When you open and use the Calendar Cleaner feature, Declutr accesses your local 

calendar events to:

- Identify past, expired, and duplicate calendar entries.

- Allow you to review and delete unwanted events.

No calendar data is ever sent to any remote server.


3.4 RECYCLE BIN / TRASH (30-DAY RETENTION)

When you clean files, photos, contacts, or calendar entries, Declutr moves them 

to an internal protected local Trash area where you can restore them within 30 days. 

This Trash mechanism is entirely local to your device.

4. INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY BY THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

While Declutr does not collect personal files, our app integrates trusted 

industry-standard third-party Software Development Kits (SDKs) to serve 

advertisements, provide stability, and analyze aggregate feature usage.


4.1 GOOGLE MOBILE ADS (ADMOB)

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements (banner, native, interstitial, and 

app open ads). Google AdMob may collect and process:

- Google Advertising ID (GAID / AD_ID on Android 13+)

- IP address (used for approximate geolocation and fraud prevention)

- Device identifiers, hardware model, operating system version, carrier

- Ad performance metrics, ad interaction events (clicks, impressions)

4.2 FIREBASE SERVICES (ANALYTICS & REMOTE CONFIG)

We utilize Google Firebase services:

- Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymized, aggregated application usage statistics 

  (e.g., screens visited, buttons tapped, session duration, app crashes) to help 

  us optimize performance and fix bugs.

- Firebase Remote Config: Fetches dynamic configuration parameters (such as ad unit 

  settings and feature flags) without sending personal user data.

4.3 GOOGLE USER MESSAGING PLATFORM (UMP) / CMP CONSENT

For users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), 

and other regulated jurisdictions, we display a Google-certified Consent Management 

Platform (CMP) dialog. This dialog captures your explicit preferences regarding 

personalized advertising and cookie/device identifier usage pursuant to the 

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ePrivacy Directive.

5. PERMISSIONS DECLARED AND WHY WE NEED THEM

5.1 MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (All Files Access)

- Required on Android 11 (API 30) and higher.

- Justification: Declutr is a comprehensive storage cleaner and file manager. 

  It requires full filesystem access to locate duplicate files across diverse folders, 

  detect hidden thumbnail cache, identify leftover APK files, scan large old files, 

  move items to the 30-day Trash bin, and restore files to their original directories.

- We do not access files outside of the user's requested scanning and cleaning actions.


5.2 READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE & WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (maxSdkVersion 29)

- Required on legacy Android 10 and lower devices to scan, clean, and manage files.


5.3 READ_CONTACTS & WRITE_CONTACTS

- Requested at runtime only when you navigate to the Contacts Cleaner tool.

- Used solely to find, merge, and clean duplicate contacts locally.


5.4 READ_CALENDAR & WRITE_CALENDAR

- Requested at runtime only when you navigate to the Calendar Cleaner tool.

- Used solely to find and clean outdated or duplicate calendar entries locally.


5.5 POST_NOTIFICATIONS

- Required on Android 13 (API 33) and higher.

- Used to deliver optional weekly cleanup reminders, low storage alerts, and monthly 

  cleaning summary reports. Users can disable notifications at any time in system settings.


5.6 INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

- Used to load advertisements via Google AdMob, fetch Remote Config settings, and 

  send anonymous diagnostics via Firebase.


5.7 com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID

- Used on Android 13+ by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for advertising and analytics.


5.8 com.android.vending.BILLING

- Used for processing optional in-app purchases and subscriptions through Google Play.

6. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

- Local Files & Trash: Files placed in Declutr's Trash remain on your device for 

  up to 30 days before permanent deletion, or until you manually tap "Empty Trash". 

  Uninstalling the application immediately removes all app-specific internal data.

- Third-Party Data: Any anonymous analytics and diagnostic data collected by 

  Firebase or Google AdMob is retained according to Google's standard data 

  retention schedules (typically 2 to 14 months).

7. DATA SECURITY

We take the security of your data seriously:

- All communications between third-party SDKs (AdMob, Firebase) and their servers 

  are encrypted in transit using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS / HTTPS).

- File operations (move, delete, restore) utilize Android's secure application 

  sandbox and standard OS file permission controls.

- No user accounts or passwords are required to use the core application.

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Declutr is not directed toward children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the 

EEA). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. 

If we learn that personal data of a child has been collected, we will take prompt 

steps to delete it.

9. YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, AND GLOBAL PRIVACY LAWS)

Depending on your geographic location, you may hold rights regarding your data:

- Right to Access & Erasure: Since your files and contacts remain strictly on your 

  device, you have full control to inspect, restore, or permanently erase them at any time.

- Right to Withdraw Ad Consent: You can update or revoke your advertising consent 

  at any time via the "Consent Options" / "Privacy Settings" button inside the App.

- Right to Opt-Out of Interest-Based Advertising: You can reset or disable your 

  Advertising ID in Android Settings: Settings -> Google -> Ads -> Delete advertising ID.
